Jesse Owens

It has been one crazy week! Some snow, some ice, and no power has left us with an odd two-day week. We are getting back into the swing of things and are excited to jump into all of our February fun! We will be covering the Olympics, Black History Month, and of course celebrating Valentine's Day!

Today's activity is in honor of Black History Month. We learned all about 4 time Olympic Gold Medalist, Jesse Owens! Mr. Owens overcame some large obstacles and has many inspirational quotes that encourage young boys and girls to never give up!

In honor of Mr. Owens we made our very own running shoes. We worked on mixing colors, as well as lacing. It was a great fine motor exercise! Along with lacing we were able to work on a few of our concept vocabulary such as "over", "around", and "through".

After our shoes dried we tackled the laces.

Although coincidently  Jesse Owens is an Olympian he isn't one of the winter games; but one of the summer games.  As mentioned before, we will be studying Winter Olympics throughout the month. Our bulletin board got a refresh today for just that occasion!

To see what we have done in our Olympic Unit so far, check out Patterned Snowboards and 11 Gone Skiing.
